XactContents alternative: Contents.team vs Verisk

Contents.team is a direct XactContents alternative for photo-to-priced contents schedules. Compare CAT/SEL, replacement pricing, RCV/ACV, exports, and the workflows it does not replace.

Contents.team is a direct XactContents alternative when your goal is to turn claim photos into a priced, depreciated contents schedule. It extracts editable items from photos, assigns Xactimate CAT/SEL codes, attaches sourced replacement pricing, calculates RCV, depreciation, and ACV, and exports an XactContents-format XLSX.

It is not a replacement for the entire Verisk claims ecosystem. Contents.team does not replace Xactimate structural estimating, native XactAnalysis delivery, XactContents collaboration, or Payment Tracker. If your carrier requires those workflows, keep Verisk as the destination and use Contents.team to replace the manual schedule-building work upstream.

That distinction matters because many “XactContents alternatives” lists mix together three different purchases: contents estimating, pack-out tracking, and restoration business management. Those tools may all touch the same claim, but they do not solve the same problem.

We publish Contents.team, so this is not a neutral comparison. The product boundaries and competitor descriptions below are linked to vendor documentation so you can verify them directly.

The short answer

Choose Contents.team instead of XactContents when:

  • claim photos are your starting point;
  • the bottleneck is creating and pricing hundreds of personal-property lines;
  • you need Xactimate CAT/SEL, sourced retailer links, and RCV/ACV calculations;
  • an XLSX, CSV, or PDF schedule is an accepted deliverable; and
  • you do not need the final schedule authored entirely inside the Verisk environment.

Keep XactContents as the system of record when:

  • the carrier or IA requires a native XactContents or XactAnalysis workflow;
  • Verisk collaboration and Payment Tracker are part of the claim;
  • your team already prices and reviews every line inside XactContents; or
  • organizational profile rules require the native application.

Use both when the final estimate must stay in Verisk but you want the inventory drafted from photos first. Verisk’s own workflow supports importing an inventory from an Excel template; Contents.team produces the upstream workbook and XactContents remains the receiving system.

The central workflow difference is where the operator spends time. Verisk’s documented XactContents process imports or creates an inventory, then has the user choose a replacement result for each item and review CAT/SEL. Contents.team attempts that draft before the operator opens the line: the human reviews and corrects the output rather than beginning with a blank inventory.

Both workflows still require professional judgment. AI can misidentify an object, select an imperfect replacement, or infer the wrong condition. Every Contents.team line is editable, and the final schedule should be reviewed by the responsible adjuster or estimator.

For claims where the main challenge is reconstructing a large personal-property schedule, see the total loss inventory software workflow. Public adjusting firms can also see how the contents layer fits beside their CRM on the public adjuster software page.

What Contents.team replaces—and what it does not

It can replace manual contents schedule creation

For a public adjuster, independent adjuster, contents specialist, or TPA whose deliverable is a documented schedule, Contents.team covers the core XactContents-shaped work:

  • photo-linked item identification;
  • room and item descriptions;
  • Xactimate category and selector codes;
  • replacement pricing with source links;
  • age and condition inputs;
  • depreciation, RCV, and ACV; and
  • carrier-facing XLSX, CSV, and PDF output.

If the receiving party accepts that schedule directly, XactContents does not have to be part of the workflow.

It can complement XactContents

Some organizations must finish inside Verisk. In that case, Contents.team is an upstream production tool: build and review the schedule from photos, export the workbook, then validate and import it using the receiving organization’s current XactContents template and profile rules.

This is also how other capture tools describe their relationship to XactContents. Encircle’s official report guide tells users to select its “Import Template (Xact Compatible)” to import Encircle contents items into XactContents.

It does not replace the rest of Xactimate

Verisk describes Xactimate as property-claims estimating software for structural scope, sketches, regional construction pricing, and professional estimates, with XactContents as its dedicated contents option. Contents.team does not estimate roofs, drywall, mitigation labor, or reconstruction. It replaces or accelerates the personal-property schedule, not the structural estimate.

It does not replace pack-out tracking

Verisk describes ContentsTrack as a multi-platform solution for contents pack-out and pack-back. Its workflow covers boxes, labels, locations, scans, and the physical movement of property. Contents.team does not track which vault or truck holds an item.

If physical custody is your bottleneck, compare ContentsTrack, Encircle, iCat, or a warehouse workflow product. If pricing and depreciation are the bottleneck, compare XactContents with a contents-schedule specialist such as Contents.team.

Why common alternatives lists go wrong

The names that appear in search results are often legitimate products placed in the wrong comparison. Here is how to classify the tools commonly listed as XactContents alternatives:

SoftwareWhat its vendor says it is forDirect XactContents replacement?
Contents.teamPhoto-to-priced personal-property schedules with CAT/SEL, source links, depreciation, RCV, and ACVYes, for schedule creation and valuation
EncircleField documentation and contents reports, including a report for import into XactContentsPartial overlap; often upstream of XactContents
ContentsTrackPack-out and pack-back inventory trackingNo; complementary physical workflow
ItemStageMobile-first processing and chain of custodyNo; warehouse and item-operations workflow
DocuSketch360° documentation, floor plans, sketches, and estimating servicesNo; documentation and structural-estimating workflow
magicplanFloor-plan-based estimating with custom price listsNo; sketching and project estimating
Jobber / Contractor+Scheduling, CRM, quoting, and invoicing / contractor operationsNo; business operations
DASHRestoration job management, documentation, equipment, and workflowsNo; company and job management

Those products may be useful alongside XactContents. They should not outrank a schedule-and-valuation product when the question is specifically, “What replaces XactContents for contents inventory and valuation?”

A practical two-claim test

Run the same two claims through your current XactContents process and Contents.team. Use one ordinary residential claim and one difficult claim with many items, damaged rooms, or ambiguous replacements.

Measure:

  1. time from the raw photo set to the first complete schedule;
  2. lines requiring manual item-description correction;
  3. lines requiring a different CAT/SEL or replacement;
  4. lines missing a defensible source;
  5. time to validate or import the final workbook; and
  6. whether the receiving adjuster accepts the output format.

If the Contents.team schedule is faster and the output is accepted, it can replace the XactContents schedule-building step. If importing and reconciling the workbook costs more time than it saves, keep the native workflow. The right answer depends on the required destination, not the length of a generic feature list.

Try the direct alternative

Pick one contents claim and compare it with your current XactContents workflow. Contents.team is priced publicly at $299 per user per month, with 1,000 items included per organization each month and $0.80 per additional item. There is no annual contract.

Last updated: July 27, 2026. Contents.team capabilities were verified against the production deployment and current Xactimate data layer on that date. XactContents, ContentsTrack, Encircle, and adjacent-product descriptions were checked against vendor documentation linked above. Verisk templates and organization profiles can vary; validate the first production export against the receiver’s current requirements.

Frequently asked

  • What is the best alternative to XactContents?

    Contents.team is a direct modern alternative when the job is turning claim photos into a priced, depreciated personal-property schedule. It extracts editable line items, assigns Xactimate CAT/SEL codes, attaches sourced replacement pricing, calculates RCV, depreciation, and ACV, and exports an XactContents-format XLSX. Keep XactContents when native Verisk collaboration, XactAnalysis delivery, or Payment Tracker is required.

  • Does Contents.team replace XactContents entirely?

    It can replace the schedule-building portion of XactContents when your deliverable is an XLSX, CSV, or PDF contents schedule. It does not replace Xactimate structural estimating, native XactAnalysis workflows, Verisk Payment Tracker, or pack-out and warehouse chain-of-custody software. In those workflows, Contents.team can prepare the schedule upstream and XactContents remains the destination.

  • Can Contents.team export an inventory for XactContents?

    Yes. Contents.team exports an XactContents-format XLSX with item and room details, CAT and SEL, retailer or source links, replacement cost value, depreciation, and actual cash value. XactContents supports inventory import from its Excel template. Because Verisk can change templates between versions or profiles, validate the first export against the receiving organization’s current template.

  • Is ContentsTrack an alternative to XactContents?

    Not for the same job. Verisk describes ContentsTrack as pack-out and pack-back software for recording, categorizing, and tracking physical property. XactContents is the estimating and pricing workflow. A restoration company may use both: ContentsTrack for custody and location, then XactContents for valuation.

  • Is Encircle an alternative to XactContents?

    Encircle overlaps on contents capture and reporting, but its own documentation includes an Xact-compatible report specifically for importing Encircle items into XactContents. That makes Encircle a field-documentation alternative or upstream companion more often than a complete replacement for XactContents pricing and valuation.

  • Does Contents.team replace Xactimate?

    No. Contents.team is for personal-property contents schedules. Xactimate covers the wider property estimating workflow, including structural scope, sketches, regional construction pricing, and estimate delivery. Contents.team can replace or accelerate contents schedule creation without replacing Xactimate for structural estimating.
